Pump It Up

The School Gang

Today Jack and some of his school mates met up at Pump It Up.

I have a love/hate relationship with this place.

In the winter, I love that it’s a place the kids can run wild and get all their energy out.

I hate way it always smells like a gym locker room. Like sweaty old socks.

The kids seemed to have a blast. They were so excited when they first arrived that they spent a good 10 minutes just running up and down the corridor, unable to pick which one of all different inflatables to jump on first.

Over winter break they had special 1 & 1/2 hour time slots for $8 per kid, adults free. My super coupon Mom friend, Kim, managed to get in for only $5 per kid with a coupon she found online. She always seems to find the best deals and I got some good tips from her today. Might have to share them in a future blog…

Meli Cafe

Strawberry Banana Smoothie

I guess it’s no secret, since we decide to dine at this place out after seeing it on Check Please, but people, if you haven’t tried Meli Cafe, GO TRY IT!

We used to be Toast regulars, but when the outspoken and hilarious manager (Jill) left we realized the food wasn’t superior to all other brunches. Just her quick wit was. So, we’ve been venturing out.

Everything we tried was amazing. Even something as simple as scrambled eggs. Look at the picture of Jack’s Strawberry Banana Smoothie! It has whipped cream and fancy chocolate pictures on the sides! I got crepes. Love it when they have crepes both sweet and savory. Adam got an omelette that could only be described as umami yummy.  Also, they had a lot of vegan options, something I’m hoping to do more of once these pregnancy cravings stop taking over my brain.

I was pleased to see they used kiddie cups made from 100% recycled corn that were compostable. And recyclable take home containers.

Building Friendships

January 2012 - New Year's Brunch at the Cameron's

The new year is always a time to reflect, isn’t it? Seeing these three play together this morning made me realize how having kids has changed our lives.

April 2010 - Easter Egg Hunt

Josephine, Angus and Jack have been hanging out together since they were all in diapers. Okay, it wasn’t that long ago, but life without kids seems like another an eternity away from the life we’ve built for ourselves now.

March 2009 - Playdate at the Calisoff's

Because of them and many more, I’ve been very blessed to have built some great friendships of my own. I hope it continues for many more years to come.

Happy New Year! Wishing all who read this a great 2012!
