Jack drove in for a quick 24 hours so we could all run the Hot Chocolate Race together last weekend.
He arrived to a bit of Halloween mayhem, with these 6 (and sometimes more) masked bandits running around the evening before the race. Ben was off with his buddy Allan at his house for the evening.

In the morning we headed downtown to an unseasonably warm November morning. Luckily the clocks changed the night before and the 6am wake up time was less painful than usual.

Right after this photo the kids went to the front of the corral and Adam and I didn’t see them again until after the race, where they were patiently waiting for us to finish.
I started with Adam but split after about a mile. He was coming off a cold and running was difficult during the race. He did manage to finish, but it wasn’t the time he was hoping for.

Also Ben’s buddy joined us for the race, for a non runner he did really well!

Afterwards we enjoyed the yummy treats. The Hot Chocolate race has the best food after the race!

How did we do, time wise? Ben, our cross country runner, finished first. By most metrics his time was the most impressive. But there was one metric that I had the highest score of the whole family….

I did a calculations of age groups v overall time:
Sam and Aaron were in the 10-14 age group. Sam finished in the top 10% and Aaron in the top 11%.
Ben and Jack were in the 15-19 age group. Ben finished in the top 6% and Jack in the top 21%.
Adam was in the 55-50 age group and finished in the top 24%.
I was in the 50-54 age group and finished in the top 4%!
Another fun race! Already looking into the next one we can sign up for…..
